Description
The 1983 Ambiguita dining table by Lella & Massimo Vignelli is perhaps the most ambitious model of the series of tables that was designed for Casigliani.
The Ambiguita series (dining table and console) were designed as an hommage to Ambiguity.
One side has a 90 degrees angle. We know were it starts and were it ends.
The other side however has a diagonal lines in the base as in the table top. We know where it begins but not where it’s going to end. Like a compass on the loose. Ambiguous.
You can rotate the 250cm marble top in whatever direction you desire thanks to the specially constructed system between the top and base.
Lella & Massimo Vignelli use the following principles in their designs.
Discipline, ambiguity, history and theory.
Only around 5 models of this table are known to be made.
