‘Related Figures’ or ‘Figures Liées’ by Jan Burssens was shown at the Belgian Pavilion at Venice Biennal of 1958. It’s a structure painting and coming from his strongest lyrical period.
Founding member of the ‘Art Abstrait’ group and leaves quite early. After the 1958 Biennal of Venice he leaves for a Guggenheim Scholarship in New York City. Burssens is a that point one of Belgiums most important painters of the informal school.
