DESCRIPTION

A rare sculptural ceiling light produced by Lumen in Italy in the early 1950s.

The design combines a finely drawn black metal structure with a large, suspended fabric diffuser and directional light source. Its asymmetrical construction gives the lamp an almost weightless, mobile-like quality.

The design is often compared to Angelo Lelii’s celebrated “Vela” ceiling light, model 12385, designed around 1950–51 for Arredoluce. Both explore the expressive possibilities of a suspended, sail-like diffuser and transform the ceiling light into a sculptural presence within the interior.

The lamp has been preserved in excellent original condition, retaining its original lacquer and showing no damage.
